The Commission on Magnet Recognition Program® recognizes 289 health-care organizations in 45 states, as well as one in Australia and New Zealand, for their excellence in nursing service. Forsyth Medical Center is honored to be recognized as a Magnet facility.
Magnet Certification
The nursing division at Forsyth Medical Center has received national recognition for its' nursing care by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, a subsidiary of the American Nursing Program that promotes excellence and quality in nursing care. The certification recognizes quality of care, excellent working conditions, and ability to recruit and retain nurses in a highly competitive field. Forsyth Medical Center is one of 96 hospitals 1.6% of all hospitals in the country that have received this certification.
Practice Standards
Recognizing quality patient care, nursing excellence, and innovations in professional nursing practice, the Magnet Recognition Program provides consumers with the ultimate benchmark to measure the quality of care that they can expect to receive. When U.S. News & World Report publishes its annual showcase of "America's Best Hospitals", being a Nurse MagnetTM facility contributes to the total score for quality of inpatient care. Of the 14 medical centers listed on the exclusive Honor Roll with the 2006 rankings (July 17, 2006), seven of the top ten were Magnet hospitals.
